Angel was adopted in August 2007 from the Cleveland Animal Shelter as a kitten. As I passed her cage, she stuck her paw out at me and meowed and at that point I knew she was the one for me. After taking her home we immediately bonded and she stayed by my side ever since then. The cutest and the sweetest kitten, she enjoyed playing and cuddling. As the years went on, we had moved from one place to the next. I always brought Angel with me, and I knew she always wanted to be with me since she'd always look out the window and wait for me to get home. Our relationship with each other would only grow stronger throughout the years. While I was in high school and working part-time, Angel would wait for me after school every day and after work every night. She'd sit by the door like a concerned parent and greet me as I walked in the door. A look of pure happiness on her face and her tail up in the air. We'd always go into my room together where she'd sleep at the foot of my bed, or wherever. If she wasn't already there, I'd call her name and she'd come running, I'm not sure why, but the fact that she listened so well to me just made me feel honored. It made me feel honored to have such a great companion in my life, and there's times where I think I wouldn't be here without her. Just looking into her eyes made me happy. In that moment I could just forget about everything and enjoy the time I spent with her. Angel was a great listener. You could almost talk to her like a real person. With every year she aged, she could understand more. She knew all the basics and more. Cats are so independent, that when they listen to you, it fills your soul with joy. She wouldn't always come when I wanted her to or jump up, but the majority of the time definitely makes her stand out. I wish more people could have seen this side of her, but I know she was very asocial to people she didn't know. I hope this shines a more positive light on her for all of you. July 2016, I moved to Germany and took Angel with me. The $300 I paid to do it was priceless because in these 15 months, I needed her more than ever. The beginning was hard because everything was new, but Angel was the familiarity and family that helped me through it. After I moved out on my own working a terrible job, coming home to Angel was the only positive thing in my entire day and it made me so damn happy. She brought so much life into such a depressing place and gave me the strength to keep fighting. Summer of 2017 I moved again. The place was much better but the change of life wasn't really Angel's favorite. New place with a new kitten, Demon, and unable to sleep with me at night. After working yet another terrible job, that thankfully didn't last long, Angel got sick with a sore throat. On my birthday in October I heard that Angel couldn't meow very well and took her to the vet. They gave her some shots for the pain and anti-biotics for her small infection. This small thing was either the start of something big or because of some pre-existing problem. As the week progressed, she felt better, but on Saturday that all changed. She hadn't moved in the past 2 days really and was going in and out of consciousness. We took her to the animal hospital that night, where she spent the next week recovering from kidney failure. The next Sunday we were told, she may actually live. The day we took her home again she wouldn't stop purring. She was so happy to be home and I couldn't believe I was finally able to take her home again. It felt unreal. The next day she became lethargic and I thought she might be annoyed with everything that's happened. That night we took her to the animal hospital again after she couldn't walk anymore. The next morning around 8:15, I received a call that Angel had died. As I came in to visit her one last time and mourn with her body, I was told her kidneys had failed. I said my goodbyes and had her cremated so that a part of her is always with me as she had been the last decade. A decade of memories and a once in the lifetime relationship with such a beautiful being. I hope her soul finds peace and she no longer suffers. She didn't deserve to go in such a cruel way. I did all I could to save her, but nothing was good enough. I see her in my dreams sometimes and even my subconscious knows that this can't be real. Her loss has taken part of my soul with it. R.I.P Angel. I love you and I will never forget you.
