Saying goodbye to Bifi, the most loyal friend we could have asked for. We will miss you, you angel on four.

Dank dir für all die schöne Zeit, für Liebe, Treue, Wachsamkeit. Für jedes Schweigen, das verstand, für deine Nähe – Herz an Hand. Du warst mein Schatten, mein Licht zugleich, so ehrlich, klar und still und weich. Ein Blick von dir – und ich verstand, du warst mehr Freund als irgendwer im Land. Du hast mein Lachen mitgetragen, und still geweint an dunklen Tagen. Du warst ein Stück von meinem tiefsten Lebensglück. Jetzt gehst du leise, ganz wie du warst, doch deine Seele bleibt und rast durch all die Räume tief in mir – mein Herz wird ewig danken dir. So ruhe sanft, mein Lebenslicht, vergesse mich im Himmel nicht. I miss petting your beautiful little head. I miss scratching your b*tt when you squeeze between my legs. I miss when you come to the kitchen for a carrot or a piece of cheese. I miss how excited in your polite way you were when we came home, bumping us with your head. I miss watching how you come to the door to greet our guests, all of whom were always happy to see you. I miss how you growl at us when we play board games or roleplaying games because we're too noisy. I miss how you always put on your grumpiest face or just walked away when I tried to take a selfie with you. I miss how you had your own, very strong opinions about where (and if) to go for a walk. I miss how you always made sure everyone was there when we walked together. I miss how we used to play with you in the park so long that you lay down under a tree to rest. Everyone says their dog is the best dog, but you truly were the goodest, bestest, most beautiful dog I ever met. I miss you, Bifi.

Es wird Stille sein und Leere. Es wird Trauer sein und Schmerz. Es wird dankbare Erinnerung sein, die wie ein heller Stern die Nacht erleuchtet, bis weit hinein in den Morgen.
